We have scoured through the DC Universe (and the internet) and compiled all we could find. Here is everything we know about Black Adam.

The Inception of Black Adam

Black Adam first appeared in the first volume of The Marvel Family from Fawcett Comics. The comics featured Black Adam as the Wizard Shazam’s unsuccessful apprentice. At that time, Shazam saw potential in a young warrior from Egypt, called Teth-Adam, and gifted his powerful abilities. However, when the force infected the former “Mighty Adam,” he used his power to assassinate the Pharaoh in his seat and claim the crown. After this, the Wizard Shazam called him “Black Adam” and flung him around 5000 light-years from Earth into space. Meanwhile, Shazam gifted Billy Batson the powers he once bestowed upon Black Adam.

Now, about five thousand years later, Black Adam made his long-awaited return and vented his rage upon Billy and the remainder of the Marvel Clan. And when the Shazam Team solidified their place in Dc Comics in the 1970s, Black Adam became a much greater thing. His one-off debut would be expanded upon by writers including Roy Thomas as well as Jerry Ordway to incorporate a richer local background, a long-lost clan, and a place as Shazam’s archenemy.

He also developed into a fantastic anti-hero along the road. His tactics would frequently be criticized in the columns of the JSA comic series from the late 1990s and early 2000s, but his objectives were admirable. He also led the country of Kahndaq for a while. However, that reign was challenged by both superhumans and other countries.

With all that history, Black Adam sure looks like the type of superhero we need right now. So keep your eyes on the theaters and get ready for a new bang in the DC Universe!
