Marvel Studios Appear To Have Finally Decided On A Superhero Name For Monica Rambeau

After months of speculation, conflicting reports, and months of debate, Marvel Studios seems to have settled on Monica Rambeau’s codename as a superhero in the MCU. Will it be Spectrum or Photon?

Captain Marvel was released in 2019 with great reviews and a huge $1.128 million at the global box office. It will be nearly a decade since Carol Danvers’ last solo movie, The Marvels, but she’ll still have company in the sequel.

Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan/Ms. Avenger will join the Avenger. Marvel and Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau will join the Avenger.

There has been much speculation about her name in the MCU. This is especially true considering that Monica has used the names Photon, Spectrum, and Captain Marvel over the years. In a recent interview, Black Comic Lords revealed that Photon will be the hero in the MCU.

“Keep it in mind, comics, as you all know, the publishing and the MCU sides do not communicate often, but we do communicate occasionally,” the author explained. “Let me tell you, Photon was not my choice for this comic. This is all I have to say. “

That is to say, Marvel Studios made that decision, leading us to believe they were looking for synergy between publishing, live-action, and animation.

Monica is known for her preferred title, Spectrum. This is not surprising considering that a recently published The Marvels tie-in book for children uses the same moniker. We’ll just have to wait to see if Marvel Studios changes their minds during reshoots, or for copyright reasons.

The Marvels look fantastic so far. Last year’s D23 conference revealed that the first teaser trailer impressed. We have Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. as clues as to when it will be available online. It will likely land somewhere between the 3 that arrived before then.
