MCU Writer Confirms the Next Big Threat After Thanos

Fans of Marvel know that throughout the years, no villain had a bigger presence in the MCU than Thanos. And while Thanos disappeared in the Avengers endgame, one big question loomed over the MCU. What is the next big threat facing its heroes?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) faced cosmic dangers over the first 11 years of its existence, which comprised the 23 films that make up the Infinity Saga. However, the next chapter of MCU superheroes is now headed towards a multiversal danger with Kang & Incursions approaching.

Following Doctor Strange 2, the MCU’s phase 4 and beyond have become more vulnerable to multiversal dangers. In the list of potential big threats to the citizens of Earth-616, we have a few names that might make the next big villain.

Kang the Conqueror, a character created by Jonathan Majors, appears shortly. He was initially seen in Loki before starting his real rule of destruction in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Given that Ant-Man 3 won’t likely be the last time viewers see him in work, his mastery of space travel and the Multiverse offers him a strong contender for the main villain position.

Additionally, Doctor Strange 2 provides a chance for Dormammu, who formerly made a name for himself haggling with Strange during his first solo film, as well as some unrevealed Incursion-based carnage.

Thanos may only be the beginning of some huge themes the Avengers will encounter as the post-Infinity Saga MCU expands. Whether it is Kang, Dormammu, or some new villain, we can’t wait to find out in Avengers 5.
